Charles Mann, Founder and COO

Charles Mann Construction was founded by Charles Mann, a dynamic entrepreneur and philanthropist with more than 25 years of experience as business owner. A former star player in the National Football League, Mr. Mann played as a defensive end for the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers, and was a three-time Super Bowl winner and a four-time Pro Bowler.

 Toward the end of his football career, Mr. Mann helped found the Good Samaritan Foundation, along with three of his Washington teammates, with a focus on helping youth develop job skills through after-school programs, tutoring and mentoring. In 1993, he was voted “Washingtonian of the Year.” Prior to founding his first company, Mr. Mann worked as color analyst and reporter with several local and national media organizations, including ESPN, BET, WUSA (TV) and WJFK-FM.

 In addition to his business activities, Mr. Mann has been involved in a number of civic organizations, including as a member of the board of Inova Health Systems, the board of the McLean School and Deacon with Grace Covenant Church in Chantilly, Virginia. He has also been involved with various charitable organizations, including National Kidney Foundation, United Way, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Metropolitan Boys and Girls Clubs, Children’s Hospital and others. He currently serves on the Honorary Board of Directors for Easter Seals Serving DC, MD and VA.

 Mr. Mann lives in the Metropolitan Washington Area with his wife of 36 years, Tyrena, and their three children.

Tyrena Mann, President & CEO

Under Tyrena Mann’s leadership, Charles Mann Construction has met the challenges of gaining all the coveted certifications essential to complying with the diversity and inclusion inherent to the procurement policies required by Federal, State, and Local governments as well as Corporate America.  

Prior to joining her husband at Charles Mann Construction, Ms. Mann was an associate with Janice Harvey Designs, where she helped the company achieve double-digit growth. Earlier in her career, she was a Partner at Joyful Creations, a Christmas and holiday decoration business, where she oversaw day-to-day operations and handled bookkeeping for the firm.

 Ms. Mann attended the University of Nevada at Reno, where she met her future husband, Charles Mann. After Mr. Mann was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 1983, the couple moved to the Washington, DC area, where they have lived ever since. The Manns have been married for 36 years, and have raised three beautiful children.
